Abstract
The insulin pump is used in selected type 1 diabetic subjects to achieve strict blood glucose level. The common complications of insulin pump are infection at infusion site, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and hypoglycemia. The main causes of DKA during insulin pump treatment are undetected leakage of the infusion system, infection, mismanagement of the pump. Patient education in managing insulin pump decreases frequency of DKA and skin-related complication. We report a case of DKA precipitated by infection on unusual infusion sites of insulin pump.
